Biofuels Project
During the Summer of 2001 the Community Biofuels Project was initiated as a series of conversations between two local organic producers, the director of Sustainable Agriculture at Central Carolina Community College (CCCC), an auto mechanic, and an entrepreneur. From those conversations emerged a two-semester, college-level course called Sustainable Energy Solutions: Biofuels through CCCCs Continuing Education program. It was uncertain whether or not the local community would respond positively to such a course but by the first day of class a dozen enthusiastic members of the surrounding community were at their desks ready to learn about this alternative fuel.
