WHAT WILL OUR PRICES BE LIKE?
As a general rule, our pricing will reflect our support of quality food, fair trade and good jobs. Chatham Marketplace is not a specialty store with “gourmet” prices; we are a co-op grocery working to provide safe, nutritious food to our community. We want our prices to be competitive, but we will not sacrifice quality to our customers or fair compensation to our employees or suppliers for price.

Chatham Marketplace will offer services not currently available in our community:

convenient access to healthy, whole food.
convenient access to local food grown by sustainable farmers.
courteous, knowledgeable staff in every department.
sponsorship of food related events and food co-op education events.

Although we will not have the buying power of conventional and organic chain stores, we have become members of the National Cooperative Grocer’s Association (NCGA). As a result of being accepted into the NCGA, we are qualified to participate in a program called the Cooperative Advantage Program (CAP). The CAP program allows us to collaborate with nearly 100 consumer-owned grocery co-ops across the country who share our passion for good food, our commitment to local farmers and suppliers, and our care for the community and the planet, and to use our combined buying power to bring you the best deals on your favorite natural products.

Watch for the CAP flyers in the Co-op that will list monthly specials and colorful shelf talkers that highlight featured sales items. Watch your mailbox for CAP coupon books that will save you even more money.

Owners in Chatham Marketplace will receive a year-end Patronage Refund based on the amount of their purchases and profitability of the Co-op.
